Drugs that repair the DNA of cancer cells may lead to new treatments for TNBC, especially metastatic forms of the disease, although recent research has been disappointing. Here’s a perspective from one of the researchers in that field, Joyce O’Shaughnessy, MD, of the Baylor Sammons Cancer Center in Dallas, who has studied the effects of gemcitabine and carboplatin on metastatic breast cancer. She spole at the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Breast Cancer Symposium in San Francisco in September. Her comments are in a Conference Report from the Cancer Network.
